Woof Woof
As you have guessed I made an impulse purchase and have finalised my family (for now) with a blue merle border collie named Saphire. I know, the name sucks bum but she is 1 year old and it's bit mean to change her name now as it seems to be the only thing she has been taught.
I'm not kidding, she doesn't know how to sit, drop, come - anything. As a friend has said "I'm a glutton for punishment".
Saphire's owner died of cancer a couple of months ago and left her dog to her two sons in their early 20's. They have shared care of her and had finally admitted defeat in giving her enough attention.
So, next Tuesday we're off to obedience training. The poor darling doesn't even like going through doors, afraid she is going to be shut in. I feel she may have been shut away for long periods of time. I have even left the garage door open with two rubbish bags sitting there and she hasn't gone near them.
So, that is my current project.
What are you spending the week working on??

This week I'm working on getting my back in order, unpacking everything (still not done it all), and getting my health issues sorted...as much as possible. Thanks for the kind comment... I am really sorry for your friend.. how bloody awful to be facing that at only 27, poor chick. No consolation, but adoption is always an option, thousands of wee darlings overseas just crying out for a Mum and Dad. I would have done that if I couldn't have produced any.... obviously that was not a problem! Hell, I had the last two without even trying or getting pregnant! I am so not worried about my results really, every now and again I get a little flutter in me tummy of nerves, but I know that most things can be sorted nowdays, just whip it all out I say! It is redundant, done it's job, and all that! If I ever feel clucky again I think I'll just borrow someone's infant for a few days, that should fix me cravings quick smart!
That first sentence so did not make sense! I meant to say.... get my HOUSE back in order... derrrr.
What a cutie! I bet the kids are thrilled :)
wow looks like you have your work cut out for you but good on you!! Dogs can be a huge reward!! And I love those eyes!! Beautiful!!!
I grew up with lots of animals and one thing I know, dogs can be re-trained with a little love and a lot of patience. It sounds like you're compassionate enough to know what she's been through. Lost an owner and then neglected. She'll come around when she knows she can trust your sweet as family :-)
I am practicing how to sound non-stuffy even when I am so that I can work from home.
I still love that doggie!
She's a little honey. I know she will soon come around being with a family with children, also especially since you are going to do the obedience training. Never too late and we learnt that from experience.
I kind of like her name...
She looks like a warm cuddly dog.... I wonder if I could take Jamal to obedience classes!!?? He is out of control at the moment!! lol ...
Can't be bothered signing into blogger!
But had to comment on this one. I got Georgie from the RSPCA when she was 1 1/2, and her name was Lucy. I changed it because she seemed to get nervous everytime I used it, and it took her no time at all to get used to it. It will take a long time for her to get used to life with you but she will be fine, trust me! Georgie was 3kg when I got her (no 8kg) and had a broken back leg, cracked rib and broken tail. She wouldn't walk up stairs. Not even one. She wouldn't eat when anyone was around. Now she is GREAT and a happy dog! Dogs who have had a rough start will love you twice as much!
Oh what a gorgeous puppy, she's beautiful. I like her name too. You could call her Saffy for short. She will appreciate a bit of TLC for sure.
This week i'm working on trying to get my house tidy - ho hum boring as bat poo aren't I ?? haha
Re: your comment ... no youre not a nag, I was just feeling guilty for complaining about a loss :)
